Learnings outside school: Day trip to Vuokatti 27.2.2020

Thanks to “Be Active” project in lukio, the whole school had the chance to visit Vuokatti, a well-known winter sports center which is 3.5 hours bus driving from Kalajoki. I am more than happy to take part in it! This winter has been too stingy to offer enough snow for skiing in coastal area; hence it would be a great opportunity to brush up my cross-country skiing skill. Apart from it, it’s such a precious chance to spend time with my colleagues, in a different environment and to learn from them.

I often feel amazed after spending enough time with someone. When I talk about “enough”, I mean hours. Not 10-second’s length of a TikTok video. During that enough time, we communicate with each other, like we read a book. There are so many books on the shelves, like there are so many people surrounding us. We don’t bother to open a book or eBook, like we don’t bother to start a conversation with a person in real life or online. If we happen to open a book, we often glance over few pages and leave it aside, like we sometimes speak to someone then we stop suddenly. Time is so precious to us that we don’t want to spend it with others who seem far away.

Sitting in bus for hours and then joining in same sports activities gather people together and offer them enough time to spend with each other. That day’s experience gave me much more than I expected. Here is the picture of our cross-country skiing team! Bravo team!!!

Many thanks to Terttu who was actively taking photos during the skiing trip, which left us good memories here.

I also collected the most memorable moments from students of International Studies 1 groups. Here are their pictures and their thoughts.

This is the best and only picture I took during the trip.  We are playing cards in the bus on chocolate box that is over Ami's legs

I like this photo the most out of the photos i took yesterday. I don't exactly know why. I didn't take a lot of photos, but this one just caught my eye. I took it kinda quickly because the bus wasn't going to wait for someone to take a picture. The view still looks  nice.

This photo is really relaxing because it reminds me of how i was listening to calming music and sleeping during the ride to home

It was the only picture I took before my battery died😂🤦🏻‍♀
Sun was so beautiful in this picture, so this is my favourite picture. And I took only few pictures.
We basically played dress up with glasses. It was funny.

I like this picture the most because it shows a great view of the slopes in Vuokatti. Even if I wasn't downhill skiing or just skiing, it brought me so many good memories from the last time I was there.

This was one of the decent ones that I took.

-- Yesterday probably the funnest thing we did was the Escape Room, where we spent a good five minutes fiddling with switches because we forgot a very important clue we got earlier, and were in general very dumb.
-- Yesterday I was also in an escape room but in a different one. We were doing the last task for at least 5 minutes and nothing happened, then we realized that the door had been open all along
-- We tried Virtual reality glasses which was a fun experiment. It actually felt realistic and we almost fell over when we were playing.
-- It was fun lol. We walked for more than 10 kilometers. The rope climbing or whatever it is was terrifying.
-- I experienced virtual reality for the first time which was fun and I also escaped an escaped room with my friends and the process of doing so was quite exiting and fun.
-- I was at home and i look after my nephew and he was the cutes thing.
-- As I was sick yesterday, I couldn't go to Vuokatti. I was a little bummed about not being able to go, but I didn't really mind it too much as I had already been there once. I would have liked to try the vr-room though.. Oh well, maybe next time. I honestly just rested and drew the whole day. Couldn't really do anything else.
